At UK airports security / airline X-ray your luggage before you travel, eliminating the need to look inside.
Luggage wrap ensures that if anyone has accessed your luggage in transit you will know immediately on arrival at your destination, as the wrap will be evidently damaged or missing. If this happens don’t claim your luggage from the baggage reclaim hall - report it to airports security, explaining that the luggage was wrapped at departing airport and ask them to investigate.
Remember, for many years travellers simply used a padlock to protect their luggage from unauthorised access, subsequently denying easy access for airport security checks.
Safe 2 Go provide a free weight check service before wrapping you luggage to make sure that you do not exceed your baggage limit or at least have the opportunity to redistribute or remove any items before wrapping.
Weighing your luggage also ensures that it does not exceed 32Kgs (maximum weight for baggage handlers to lift, under Health & Safety Regulations).
Don’t worry the wrap will not add any weight.
Although only flying domestically your luggage will pass through the same airport baggage handling systems, so there is exactly the same potential for your luggage to get burst, damaged or tampered with AND don’t forget there is always the potential for luggage to get lost, so wrapping provides security for the contents and added peace of mind until it is found.
Safe 2 Go provide permanent marker pens for you to write your details / put a drawing onto your luggage after it has been wrapped so that you can easily identify your luggage, when you reach your destination.
Safe 2 Go also sell a range of multi-coloured luggage tags which will also help you identify your luggage speedily.
Our fully trained luggage wrap assistants will always release luggage wheels and handles after wrapping, so that you can lift / move your luggage as normal. Of course, if you don’t want this done just tell the luggage wrapper before wrapping.
The secure wrap can be removed by using a pair of scissors to cut a slice through the wrap; it should then come off in one piece, almost like a jacket. Remember, even although you don’t have scissors / a sharp object in your hand luggage, you can easily obtain these from hotel / apartment / youth hostel reception etc.
Do not reclaim your luggage from the carousel in the baggage claim hall. Go to airport security and state that you had your luggage securely wrapped by Safe 2 Go, naming your departure airport, also show your receipt as proof - your receipt will show the date and time when your luggage was wrapped. Ask security to investigate your luggage. This gives you peace of mind concerning damage, loss or tampering.
Boxes can easily be opened and resealed without your knowledge or consent. What’s more cardboard packaging is very fragile, especially if it is exposed to moisture, so wrapping your boxes can prevent water ingress - especially if travelling on a wet day. Safe 2 Go can also pre-wrap your boxes in bubble wrap to provide extra protection for your contents whilst in transit.
No, not necessarily. It is very easy to gain access to zipped luggage without interfering with any padlocks / cable ties and there is no evidence of any access, until you open your luggage and realise that something(s) are missing or out of place. Also, padlocks do not protect your luggage from bursting or damage in transit.
